Decide Where To Focus...
I am in the air flying from Athens to Corfu,,, It is a little plane with propellers so it is making that roaring, willing sound as it carries us across the water... Travelling to islands by plane appears to have become part of our lifestyle recently...
I was up at 5am this morning to catch up with myself a bit, and to make sure I finished writing 'Day Seventy One'... Anadi appeared at 7am and we had made an executive decision that on this occasion we would choose breakfast over running...!
It was a delight, eating delicious food to rousing classical music, in beautiful surroundings made a wonderful to start our day...
We then drove to Gatwick, dropped our car off, and were very grateful that departures was in the next building - a short dash in our inappropriate clothing to warmth again...
Anadi was wearing 'the jumper' - after me publicly celebrating him for his gentlemanly act in giving it to me in the bitter cold last night!
We share one jumper between us to keep our baggage light; the less we have makes carrying everything we own around with us easy and uncomplicated...
And... To be totally fair, 'the jumper' was originally his!
The three hour flight to Athens from Gatwick went in a flash, we have become accustomed to travelling on a plane for thirteen hours.
It always interests me how adaptable human beings are, how we can all stretch to new experiences which then become the norm; the step is taken beyond what was known, beyond the comfort zone and then the new way can become familiar and usual...
This is true when stretching to discover latent talents, new skills and inner strengths needed to accomplish something; 'I've done it! I can do it'!...' After running a marathon, passing an exam, learning to dance or play the guitar... But the same is true of developing habits that don't help us...
Missing a run and then another and another... eating a packet of biscuits every day, or drinking a bottle of wine or whiskey starts with just one, and then just one more and just one more won't hurt; until you wake up and find the running has left your life and the biscuits and wine have filled the space that the running filled...!
Everything can be achieved with practice so it is worth deciding consciously what we focus on and watching where we truly want to practice most...
We have just now arrived in our beautiful Mare Hotel in Corfu Town and we were offered a welcome drink. It was Anadi's favourite Kumquat - which we both enjoyed...
We had just the one! :)
