Peace In The Heart
Anadi and I have been sitting in Teide gardens under the cherry trees drinking fresh fresh orange juice, from freshly squeezed, freshly picked oranges...
Josh and Georgina, the two little people we met when they were sitting with their Mummy on the top of the rock, as we passed running by on the path below them, appeared with their Daddy Jamie...
Georgina requested a carrot and apple juice which arrived also having been made from fresh produce, freshly squeezed... I made a 'note to self' to order one of those next time..!
Georgina found it a very new concept to understand what being a nomad meant, and of not having a home to go back to... 'I'll try and explain to her' Jamie said...
We were up early this morning, running in the mountains, the clouds were gone... Bright skies back again... We had left it a bit late given that we were journeying to the airport to pick up Kathy (who has said she is happy to be 'known' and named in 'the blog'!) and so when we reached the final run for home, down the steep hill that leads to the back of 'our little White House', we decided to pick up the pace....
'You lead' I said to Anadi, 'you're better than me down the steep bits...' And so we galloped off... It was such fun...
As this year - which has seen me to running in extremely varied and challenging terrains - has progressed, I find myself much improved at 'downhill running'!
I felt free and fast and fearless, and along the flat bits I raced like the wind. It reminded me of being a child in the woods, running about without a care in the world...
We quickly showered and then sped off down the mountainside talking about all our plans for our businesses - and about an idea I had this morning to host a holistic running camp up here next year; the chance for lots of running and inner development work too... And then we moved onto the moving meditations, and I suddenly recalled that this is the very thing that I first approached Anadi for three years ago....
I had recorded a couple of meditations which I had no music for... Amy and I were on the look out for something to fit them, and I was sitting at my computer when a new twitter follower alert, alerted me that Anadi was following me....
This was when there was a programme that followed people randomly, so Anadi had no idea that he had just followed me!
I glanced at his profile, noticed that it involved music, and sent his twitter and website details to Amy, asking her to investigate....
She sent Anadi an email which he never saw!
When she received no answer, she investigated his website and found a whole section of interviews with people about meditation practices...
'Can I ask him if he would interview you...?' She texted me....
I remember glancing at the text, on my way out of the door... 'Why not...?'
And so almost three years ago I travelled to North London to be interviewed by Anadi about my running as a meditation....
Music for my meditations was never discussed... Until now!
This morning Anadi had a conference call at 10am UK time... We were still zooming along in the car then, but Anadi had everything ready on his computer and had prepared before we left, so with computer open, he talked to one of his sales team giving him instructions on setting up a live stream he has to do this coming weekend....
And I was driving us along a beautiful clear motorway with the Mediterranean sparkling beside us...
The wonders of our world that we can work anywhere, stay connected with one another and be in two places at once...
It was wonderful to see Kathy appear...!
We first met in 2000 and I have been privileged over the years to witness Kathy make huge differences in many lives... She is the chair of the Friends of Sussex Hospices and this year she was recognised for over twenty years of charity work and was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s New Years Honours List...
We were in Thailand at the time, and I loved waking up on New Year's Day and scanning the list for Kathy's name...!
We drove from the airport straight to the beach and spent a timeless time in 'our restaurant' chatting and sharing stories, and then continuing our conversation floating and treading water in the sea!
We the wound our way up the mountain, dropped her off at her hotel and made our way to Teide where we started exploring 'world peace'!
'I believe the point is often missed' I mused, 'this planet seems to be a crucible really for clearing the pain and stuff within us, and that must be the focus really, then the peace will come from the inside...'
'Yes' Anadi agreed, 'that's what Lao Tzu says...
“If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbours.
If there is to be peace between neighbours,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.
