Treading Our Own path...
I am sitting with Anadi, it's 8.18 in the evening and we are about to go and have our Friday night out just up the road.
We have become regulars in a local restaurant, come coffee house/ cafe con leche house round the corner...
This morning we breakfasted there on our orange juice, croissant and tortilla, which has become our breakfast of choice in San Sebastián... Then we ran on our loop over the bridge and back to the beach...
We crossed over one bridge earlier today, because we had talked too long in the cafe; so we cut down on our run as we had an 11am meeting on the beach!
We are making a documentary as I journey to the Masters World Championships in Australia about 'meditation in action...'
I had asked Nick, who is Angela's boyfriend and a keen cyclist, if I could interview him...
We arrived back at the beach and Ange was sitting on the sand in the sun. A few minutes later Nick appeared, he had cycled out of the town and up into the mountains, where the temperature was one degree and he was high up above the clouds!
I asked him if he minded just 'going with the flow' for our interview, or whether he would like to have a bit of a plan...
He opted to 'go with the flow', and what emerged was a wonderful insight into a place of tranquility within him through his experience of riding his bike. Nick spoke about how this has been there since he was a boy, and comes through the effort of the ride or the race; and it is a place where he finds his peace...
'That was perfect', I said at the end... 'Did I tell you that our documentary is about "meditation in action"... 'No' he laughed, 'you didn't...'
Nick cycled off to shower and change his clothes...
Anadi, Ange and I went down to the beach for her interview, which was very special and very heartfelt... Ange and I have shared a journey of fifteen years where we have supported one another in our different ways...
As Angela mentions in her interview, we recognised the soul connection on the first day we met, and we have since talked about the ways we have each used our different gifts and energy to help the other fly...
I will save most of what was said for when it is broadcast...
But in essence I thanked Ange for her support of me. I said how much I appreciated her recognition that by putting my running first, and central to my life, by committing to the running step it has been where I have faced myself and cleared the way for me to shine as my true self...
Fifteen years ago we were at Club La Santa together; I was lying in the bath having been running, Ange had cycled with me and she was sitting on the loo seat and we were chatting while i soaked the rigours of run away... 'I see it Jue', she said... 'This is how you will inspire people; through your running journey...'!
Angela said today, that she saw that by committing to my own path, she witnessed that I am a better therapist and healer for others, because my gifts come from the place of my own truth, from treading my soul path...
