The Path Is Revealing Itself
We are sitting working on the terrace in the dark with the sounds of the jungle all around us accompanied by the soft lapping of the waves on the shore just below...
It is quiet in Orchid resort, there was an exodus of people this morning. they all piled into one of the taxis, that actually look like trucks; they are open at the back crammed with people on two benches facing one another. These vehicles career up and down the hills, round the bends and toot as they approach in case you might want to hire them; we always wave them by indicating that we are travelling on foot...
Pete, Gino and Ileus left in this taxi to the port... It felt a bit of a wrench to say goodbye... We hugged one another and Gino said 'they say that you always meet twice, I hope we will meet again...'
And Pete said 'If you are in Tooting come and find me and we can go out and eat masala dosa together...'!
And then they were gone. Our new friends disappeared in a cloud of dust; I could feel their energy still here all day, but now, this evening they are really gone...
I started my day with my exercises on the beach again, they were much improved from yesterday, maybe in part because Anadi came down and sat on a rock to watch! I played to the audience!
This afternoon we went on another jungle exploration, but we went further this time, very high high up, and there is so much further to go...
'The jungle feels haunted today' Anadi said... 'I know what you mean' I replied ' it's like we are being watched...'
I think we were being watched... Suddenly monkeys swung through the trees beside us, one of them was very big! Anadi told me afterwards that he didn't feel particularly safe at the at point, it was like they were circling us... I am quite glad he didn't tell me at the time!
'I reckon if it were dark we would see lots and lots of eyes watching us' I said, we certainly didn't feel that we were alone...!
Butterflies were everywhere too, a beautiful big blue and black one landed on the path in front of us and yellow and white, spotted brown ones flew all around us as we journeyed...
'We must look up butterfly when we get back' I said...
I was reminded of our visit to my cousin Carol in Bournemouth before we came away, we were saying to her that we didn't really and truly know what the future held; that we were heading out as nomads, the planet our home, and that we imagined all would reveal itself as we travelled this path
'It looks to me' Carol said, 'that you have been in the chrysalis stage and now you have emerged as butterflies and that everything is new; you will find out what this new life is as you fly free...'
I remembered her words as the butterflies circled us and we climbed higher up the steep sandy path through the jungle; more monkeys leapt about the trees beside us, smaller, little black ones.... The path is revealing itself as we tread it...
And I remembered some words by kahlil Gibran that seemed at this moment to reflect our lives unfolding before us:
'But you who walk facing the sun, what images drawn on the earth can hold you? You who travel with the wind, what weathervane shall direct your course?'
