A Synthetic Road In Urban Beauty...
We ate outside in a Lebanese restaurant last night; the air warm and humid, the streets alive with people; the hum of the traffic and the sound of car horns an ever-present accompaniment to our delicious dinner.
Traveling fast to a new environment stills me and demonstrates so vividly our life journey; all of us, over 7 billion souls, here on planet earth travelling from birth to death… It frees me to land in a new place and to see into the soul of another, to look into their eyes and know that we are all connected, we all are on the same journey and we are all learning to live fully in the moment, as we head towards this known but unknown destination.
We were served our meal by a young man, with an open and warm smile; his presence made our meal more special, he appeared to genuinely care about creating the best experience for us, watching attentively to see that all was well…
I am aware that the planet truly is my home; from stepping off the plane into the balmy late afternoon; being delivered to our new abode and then wandering the streets and landing in this restaurant, I felt at ease and open to the next steps of our adventure…
This morning we woke early and made our way to the ninth floor, we climbed the steps to the swimming pool and looked in wonder over this sunny City… and then went inside to run on a treadmill each for 5 miles. We ran along in silence, the sound of the treadmills and our footfall the only music and we ran along together but apart on this man made running track…
It felt good to run; I felt more and more flowing as I ran; my legs had hurt at first, until I ‘got going’ but I always remember my friend Mark saying to me that the north American Indians say that pain in the legs is weakness leaving the body.
I say this to myself whenever my legs hurt and it helps me to relax… and as I relaxed, I felt I could have run on and on; but 5 miles it was if we were to make it in time for breakfast… and the breakfast beckoning was a good breakfast; fruits and yoghurts, many choices of juice and breads; Thai food under silver platters if we felt to have curry this early in the day… and the egg chef cooked us both a great omelet; she was a young woman called Areeya, ‘Reeya for my nick name’ she told me and then added ‘It is my first day here today…’
Anadi and I then went for a wander in the now bright streets; I wanted a notebook to draw my ‘dreams into being’ and a notebook for my ‘things to do’. The ones that appealed to me the most were for children; they were the brightest, the most colourful. Once I had chosen two, I took them to the check out; the shop assistant laughed at my choice, she somehow knew that it was for me and not a child; or rather she saw that it was for my inner child!
Anadi and I drank coffee together before going our separate ways to work all afternoon; me sessions on skype and Anadi programming.
I worked on the second floor which was empty, until a man arrived; and then during the next two hours a stream of beautiful young women kept appearing at the top of the stairs, being greeted by him and shown into a room, from which they never re appeared!
I made up, quite accurately I believe, that they were models coming for a casting….
And now it is dark again, the swimming pool on the top of the hotel beckons us; with its warm outside Jacuzzi…
I love the variety of my training routes. One day I am jogging along paths in wild jungle, another making tracks along expansive beaches, and today running along a synthetic road in urban beauty.
