'Until One Is Committed...
‘You look like the Beatles man’, a guy sitting with a group of friends called across the street to Anadi; we waved as we passed on our way to the gym…
He called after us, and then got up, left his friends and joined us in the road.. ‘Hi’, he shook Anadi’s hand and told us his name, and then said… ‘I am Mr Feel-good; anything you want man’ – Thank you…’ we smiled and continued on our way to see Zola and to stretch out before a run…
‘I like being here, in the gym’ I said ‘I know we could stretch at home; but it makes a difference creating a different context’
Creating the time and space is all that is really necessary for anything we embark upon; whether that be a relationship, a new business venture, a sporting endeavour, writing books or songs… Preparing food or creating an event... All of our dreams need the correct conditions, the space and the time, to take shape… And, we will discover that this space emerges through full commitment to whatever it is we desire; whatever we wish to create…
As William Hutchinson Murray writes…
‘Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too…’
I have followed my inner voice, and my heart which has bid me take some time for myself, and commit to getting very fit again; to really healing this imbalance in my left side; to go deeply into the stuck and holding areas… To free myself and to discover what is possible...
If I am to be effective in the lives of others as a guide, mentor, healer, teacher; then it is vital that I listen to my own truth; It is vital to listen and heed the words of ‘healer heal thyself’.
And on the first day, here in St Lucia, I met Rodja. He is now my personal trainer, and I have an inner sense that he is the right soul to support my quest to regain balance and full alignment - he noticed I limp a little when I run – and to deepen my levels of strength and fitness.
But I didn’t plan to have a PT here!
Anadi and I were looking for 'Gros Islet Fitness Centre’. We were way off track; and so we asked a lady on the road. She said that she didn’t know where it was, but a friend of her trains in a gym across the road over a bridge…
We crossed the road, and I crossed the bridge into my new future… reflecting the rest of the piece, about what happens when one does fully commit...!
'….All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.'
In the gym...
Anadi and I stretched on the floor, and assisted one another to go deeper into some of the moves; there was a peacefulness and timelessness there. Zola was at the desk; a couple of other guys were training and Anadi and I were on the floor, with the lyrics of the song playing reflecting our feelings, the singer sung of opening our hearts, of the moment – and of its infinite possibilities.
We left and jogged to edge of Pigeon island, where we married each other almost a year ago… We circled the magnificent, tall tree on the edge of the park, and then ran back along the beach, up through the grassy, dusty scrubland and back into the village again…
My left leg feels different’ I said.
‘In what way does it feel different’? Anadi asked…
‘It feels like it is waking up…’
