The Space Between Us...
Anadi and I are sitting on the floor in a corridor in Zamaca - we are by the router, which is the best place to get Internet... There is a torrential downpour outside, rattling down on the roof; I can now smell the wet ground with the warmth and dry soil bringing out the wonderful natural smell of the land...
We walked to the local beach this morning, our legs very tired from our long effort yesterday, and returned to a delicious breakfast on the terrace... We chatted to Denny from Ohio, who is also staying here... We talked about the insignificance of us in relationship to the vastness of the universe, the speck that we are in whole... but also the damage that man is doing to the planet in many ways and therefore the massive responsibility each speck of humanity has to be the change they want to see... To recognise that every single thought we have contributes to the giant thought that is this universe.
We make a difference in every single moment in simply being...
Denny said he came to this way of thinking as he from being a young person when he lived with less responsibility of the impact we all have. He arrived at a bigger awareness of how our inner landscape has an effect on the outer expression...
'It was emphasised to us when we were very young, by my Dad' I said.. 'To always remember our effect on "the commonwealth" - it's his birthday today... If he were here he would be 103!', 'Happy Birthday Larry' Anadi said ...
'He would be happy to hear me talking like this...' I laughed! 'It seems the philosophy he taught..."went in"!
Later...
We are here again, sitting on the stone floor right by the router, in this beautiful building, with higher ceilings and spacious corridors...
It is easy to work here, as the Internet is zippity zip....
We spent the afternoon on Sandy Beach, which was alive with holiday festivity... Families picnicking, loud music, children and adults playing in the sea and on the sand, horses galloping along the beach, being ridden bareback by young guys...
We ate lunch in a restaurant full to the brim with people eating outside and inside. We sat under a sea grape tree and watched the activity around us while enjoying a delicious salad and chips... A man with a big bandage in his foot who was leaning on a stick to help him made his way towards the restaurant... The dogs that were lying about under tables to keep out of the sun leapt up and raced towards him barking wildly... He threw his stick at them...
He then made his way over to our table and asked Anadi for money. He said the pain in his foot was bad and he needed food and he wanted money... 'I've got no change man', Anadi said, 'I'll give you some change when we've eaten...' The man wandered off...
'Shall we give him some now?' I said, 'we could give him 10 dollars..' 'Okay' Anadi said 'I'll take it to him..'
The man had gone quite away by then, and so I couldn't see the interaction, but Anadi was gone awhile... When he returned he told me his tale...
'The guy said he asked me for money out of everyone else, because he saw something in me... And then he said he would do something for me but he needed some George Bush boots and a bullet proof vest....'
'What did you say to him?' I asked...
'I said "I don't need anything from you man"... And I came back here...'
Watching the unfolding of this, it looked to me that the dogs responded to the mans energy negatively, and then the man responded to Anadi's energy positively, emphasising what we had been exploring this morning in the terrace....
We are affecting everyone around us in every moment, through our being, through our energy. We are responding to one another on a far deeper level than through what we are saying...
The more our inside matches our outside expression, the easier and clearer relating becomes and the more we can relax together and keep the space between us safe.
Relationships all exist in the spaces between us...
And we are all responsible for what we put into that space...
