Life Is All About Experiences
Pru and I sat in Sette Vente the cafe at the port enjoying fresh juice, fresh fruit and yoghurt - and coffee for me!
We were joined by Vassyli - as we discovered was his name - who sat at the next table... He told us he was a travelling Greek, visiting his home Corfu, but that he is currently living and working in Istanbul... He told us that he studied languages in the UK - alive and dead ones... He told us..
'Dead ones?' I said, 'yes, Latin Ancient Greek and ancient Arabic'. He told us how in each culture he likes to adopt the ways of the people... 'I acted like the English when I was in England' he continued... 'How do you act like the English?' I asked.... 'Beer and pubs, at 11 o clock...' He laughed... And tea, of course tea in England...'
'Life is all about experiences.....' He finished...
When he had gone Pru said... 'That is the quote isn't it'?.... Life is all about experiences...', 'It is I agreed...'
We then dreamed dreams of going to Hawaii to train.... 'Julia Mancuso lives in Maui' Pru told me, she is a top skier and she loves to train in the sun....
'She reminds me of you' Pru continued 'she thinks life should be fun..' one of her constant hashtags is '#funolympics'
Discovering how to have fun can take commitment!
Commitment to shedding the struggle patterns, the self sabotage patterns, the 'why me?' Patterns...
'Why not me...?' 'Why not you?'
Noticing our scripts in our dialogue with others, and within our own head is one of the keys to transforming our lives. The neural pathways can be changed through different thoughts... We need to notice what we are thinking and saying internally. and what we are saying to others and then changing our comments, and our attitudes, and our language can change our lives....
It can also help us shift the emotional set point at the core, which might unconsciously be used to struggle, and push, and even self sabotage, without noticing it....
Keeping in touch with our desires at the core level, and noticing whether our language and thoughts support this can be part of the process to transforming our lives, so that we can live living our dreams - and having fun doing so... Always thinking - 'Why not me'!
We drove to Corfu town this morning to go to the gym run by Nikoll who I met in January when I joined in her yoga class.... We had the intention of yoga today, but it was only Pru and I who appeared... 'It is slowly slowly after the holidays,' Nikoll said... 'So no yoga today...'
We adapted our morning straight away and spent time stretching, and doing work with the stability ball and medicine ball - we then found a machine in the corner which we are calling the 'multi leg machine'!
Nikoll showed us every exercise imaginable for our inner thighs our bottoms, a 'running specific exercise' and more...!
We were very ready for our elevenses in Sette Vente.... And 'reflective journaling time' - leading very easily into lunch with Anadi at Barbati....
This evening we ran to Ipsos, all along the promenade - and did some spring training by the boats...
It is slightly as if we are existing in a different paradigm... It is warm and sunny here and Pru and I were dressed in shorts and vest whilst all the locals are still wrapped up in winter wear....
Pru is fabulous at sprints and I called the time left for her to run in each rep from way behind her as we delighted three young boys who loitered on the bend of 'running track' for the whole session...
Yassas - ( hello ) I said to them after while
Yassas they chorused, and giggled a bit too....
