Shifting The Deep Held Memories...
The alarm went off at 6.30am - as it did yesterday morning - I lay listening to it, and enjoying the sound for a while!
I have chosen Deva Premal and Miten singing the Gayatri mantra as an alarm... So on occasions it is very lovely to just lie there and enjoy her voice and her chanting.
It is a wonderful way to move from sleep to waking state... And to being out on the road!
I am still putting the miles in, so Anadi and I ran seven miles along the road with dawn breaking, hardly a soul about... Before meeting Pru for a breakfast of Greek yoghurt strawberries and bananas....
As I write Anadi is teaching Pru the different sounds of each chakra... He used to run chant workshops and is an amazing chanter!
Pru and I were talking about the Chakra system while we were stretching earlier, and I gave her my version of the sounds...
Anadi's are far more resounding and purer in tone!
Sound is very healing... Every object in the universe has its own unique resonant frequency. and the cells of our body enjoy the vibrations of different sounds....
Anadi and Pru are still talking about the Chakras and sound, and we have all just planned a chanting session while Pru is here - as a threesome - chanting each sound of each Chakra... The rooms here are very echoey and so we should be able to generate some healing vibes!
Freeing our bodies of tension is key to being present, to enjoying each moment of this wonderful life... The body holds the tension, it holds the memories of our hurts from childhood, and so becoming aware of the tension in our body is the first step to releasing it... If we are conscious of the habitual way we hold ourselves, and the tension that we are so familiar with as to not even know it is there, then we can start to notice how we react to situations... For instance the sudden shoots of tension in our heart, or our tummy, or our whole body when someone says something, or does something, that reminds of of a past hurt...
We may not even be aware the reaction has occurred, which is why starting to check in with the body regularly is key..
Where am I holding tension? How am I moving? How am I breathing...? And then breathing into the tight areas....
Once we are more body aware, we will be more aware of our reactivity, and so be able to release old pain as it arises... Often it has been activated by nothing to do with what is actually occurring in the present, but all from our own projection and our own hurt...
Working to clear tension in the body through stretching, yoga, massage, running and exercising - and chanting too - are all helpful spokes to the wheel of the core work of shifting the deep held memories and hurt - and can be an integral part of setting us free....
After breakfast, Pru and I ran together to the beach and around our circuit three times... When we had finished we sat on the beach chatting. It was a cloudy morning and we were all alone, it felt very magical....
We returned in time for lunch, and Anadi she and I ate delicious Greek food in a taverna right by the sea. We enjoyed one of those conversations that Pru said 'involves you and draws you in completely...' A couple of hours just disappeared... And then it was time for our second session of the day - sprints...!
I took the role of official timer and photographer...! And as the session progressed, the three boys appeared on their bikes and congregated on the corner again....
I improved as photographer and eventually took some pics I was proud of...
The previous ones are two of Pru's left foot in the corner of the photo... And one of an empty road...!
Pru is very fast!
