'You Are Free...'
We ran across the cliffs this morning, a blowy grey day, the green hills stretching up before us... It is seven months since we were here last, and then I couldn't go very far... My achilles was just beginning to take some steps again, so the green hills stretched in the distance, and I stayed near the beach and along the short stretch of grassy green along the top...
I set off on my daily blog from here... Day one, a Tuesday morning in November, in Dorset....
And since then we have travelled around the globe for 200 and 30 days, following the sun... Which is very absent today!
And following our inner compass...
Clearing the inner blocks, clearing with vigilance, the only thing to 'do' to clear the mental restrictions, the adaptations, the attachments to our stories about who we think we are...
'I wonder where this journey will take us?' I said to Anadi as we were being blown about on the top of the cliff path this morning... 'I wonder where truly trusting, and seeing which paths emerge from clearing the way, will take us....
There was squawking sound right by us, and Anadi ducked as a seagull flew just above his head....
Sea Gulls are messengers from the gods, especially ancient Celtic deities.
They bridge the gap between the living world and the spirit world.
Opening yourself to their energy enables you to communicate with the other side.
Sea Gull can also give you the ability to soar above your problems
and see things from above. Seeing all the different viewpoints.
'I rise on spirit wings.
Like the sea gull, I soar over the waters of life.
I glide to Otherworlds
Where the powers of the Old Ones are strong.
I open my heart and mind to the gods.
Their messages are clear to me...'
Looking up this animal totem when we returned, took me back to being sixteen years old, when I first read 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull...' Which is a story about a seagull learning about life and flight, and is a discourse about self-perfection...
The book spoke to me, of soaring high to other worlds, through the medium of this earthly body...
Two passages stood out and have always stayed with me... One where Jonathan says
'Your whole body from wingtip to wingtip is nothing more than thought itself in a form you can see. Break the chains of your thought and you will break the chains of your body too...'
The words resonated, and set me off on a lifelong journey to break those chains...!
And then there was the conversation with the injured gull, Fletch... Fletch asks 'Are you saying I can fly....?' Jonathan answers 'I say you are free...'
Freedom... 'It takes a lot to be willing to keep clearing, so that we can be totally free...' Anadi commented as we climbed up some steep steps to another hill top... 'Not many are willing to do this...'
We had run early so that we could be back in time for the wonderful breakfast here! And the steepness of the climbs means that we adhered to the advice of Nikos Kalofyris the top Greek mountain runner, who I interviewed recently... 'Count the hours, not the kilometres when running in the mountains...'
We were out for just under two hours....!
After breakfast, my wonderful sister 2 arrived for coffee...! It is such fun coming and 'living' in Dorset for a short while and being in a position to pop into and be popped into for coffee by my sister Rosy...!
