Little White House On The Side Of The Mountain...
Today is a still cloudy day, the air is clear and fresh, the temperature cooler. A huge wild storm tore its way across the mountains last night, continuous thunder, lightening flashes illuminating the sky and torrential rain...
'It was amazing' Anadi said, he came out onto the terrace and brought in the washing, the man next door was doing the same thing... They were both naked!
I slept through it all...
Which is in some ways is not surprising, but in others odd I should miss it, as I wake up often throughout a night...
I commented to Anadi the other day, that sometimes my first 'wake up' is after only about an hour of sleeping; but I feel I have been asleep for ages and ages... I dream vivid dreams and really enjoy sleeping, but I also like my waking times...
Sometimes it is only twice, but often it can be four times, even five...
It has been this way all of my life, right from childhood, when I would race, race, race across the landing to leap back into bed after a loo visit to avoid whatever 'beings or creatures' were lurking in the dark!
And I soon learnt when seeing a therapist for anything, body, mind or spirit to answer 'very good' to the question 'how is your sleeping?'
As the moment I mentioned the waking, it became a 'thing', when it is not a 'thing' for me...
For me it is a opportunity to post my blog!
Sometimes I even have a quick look at Facebook, or my emails too... Though not always...
Sometimes I stretch and do the odd yoga pose, I have a drink of water, and maybe a spoonful of honey...
I may go outside and look at the moon... The stars, enjoy the warm air at night....
Once when we were in Morocco the night sky was so awesome, that I 'had' to wake Anadi, to come and join me... He who usually sleeps right through my nocturnal life, occasionally stirring when I kiss him, or cuddle up to him...
When I lived in my flat alone in Eastbourne, I inhabited the top floor and the flat below was bought as a holiday flat, which was only occupied for about a week a year it seemed. This meant I never needed to 'worry' about the noise I made at any time!
During a day of seeing clients I amassed many coffee and tea cups and plates... Which I often left around and in the sink at the end of the day...
I discovered 3am to be a wonderful time to clear my kitchen, to wash up and put away and to then arrive in the morning to a place that had magically transformed from when I went to bed!
Last night I had woken to a flashing sky and the atmosphere was heavy with the incoming storm... I opened the doors to the terrace and went back to bed to fall into my next deep, if short sleep, and miss the storm completely!
The clearing of the air, helped with our run from Portugos today... We drove there so that tomorrow when I run both ways - twenty miles - Anadi can support my return journey with drinks, like he did with Tim and me...
The run 6 miles up the mountain and 4 miles down the other side, passed easily and very enjoyably... Both of us fitter than when we arrived here exactly a month ago, and rested from our day off yesterday...
As we rounded a bend Anadi said, 'is that people on the rock...?' It was... Perched high up above us was a woman, Rachel we discovered, with her two small children Josh and Georgina...
Georgina called out to us as we approached, wanting to know where we had come from...
We stopped and enjoyed a delightful conversations with our instant friends... Discovering as the conversation unfolded that when we leave here, their friends will be moving into 'our' little White House on the side of the mountain...
