Running And Writing In The Sun...
'We all have love within us, and if we give it out, then we will see it reflected back' the man was saying to his companion as he walked past Anadi and I...
'Thats nice to hear...' We agreed; 'the woman didn't look very interested though did she?' I commented...
'She didn't' Anadi laughed, 'perhaps it's the latest book he's read, and she's fed up... This week it's love... Last week it was something else...'!
We both laughed... Snippets of conversation, relationships and life being lived out all about us... We can make up all sorts of stories based on hearing a couple of sentences; and all of them could be true, or none of them...
This is the same in our lives...
One perspective is that our past present and future are all happening now, and so we have within each moment the opportunity to change our past and create a new future...
Anadi and I were exploring this idea as we walked along, and that we might be living parallel lives in many dimensions...
We were making our way along a stretch of road that was a familiar daily route to me twelve years ago...
'It looks the same' I said... 'Well it is the same road, so I suppose that might be why!'
I was writing my first draft of 'Running to Learn' and I loved the life I lived here for a month in San Pedro on the Southern Coast of Spain... Running and writing in the sun, and I knew then that I wanted to live this way all the time...'
'You could be walking along this road twelve years ago now, at the same time as you are walking along with me..' Anadi mused...
We reached the promenade beside the sea where I ran my intervals in January 2003, the weather was sunny and warm then and there was hardly a soul about...
I spent a month very silently in the sun, by the sea, running and writing...
And now I am back...
The seafront is far busier today - August 2015 - but not too busy.
Tomorrow morning I intend to run my familiar route through the town to the sea, which my soul remembers and says to me...
'You set me free, to do what I wanted then...
To run fast and free, in the sun, because running is me... Soul in motion...'!
We arrived at the seaside and sat drinking our cafe con leche and agua sin gas; watching the water inviting us to immerse ourselves in her healing balm...
Her healing freezing balm it turned out!
We are only forty miles along the coast from our last sea swim, but we are forty nearer to where the Atlantic joins the Mediterranean, and we felt the influence of the colder sea!
It was very invigorating and we were glad we sploshed into it before a delicious salad full of Avacado and prawns and fresh olives, a dollop of tuna and lettuce and tomatoes and peppers dressed in a dressing of Mediterranean delight!
And tomorrow at 4.15 in the afternoon beautiful Pru is arriving again to continue her journey of fitness and fun, fun, fun...
