Consolidation Day...
Pru and I have just had a lovely day together...
We have named it a 'Consolidation day'!
It culminated with a sit on the beach having shown her the video of the last few minutes of me winning the Dublin Marathon...
This came about through us discussing shaving under our arms, and how it is a cultural practice...
I then told her the story of how when I went to Dublin to run the marathon I didn't shave under my arms for four days due to having neglected to take a razor with me, and not being anywhere near anywhere to get one....
As it was my practice to be used to smooth under arms, as I came to cross the line, I was conscious that the usual victory gesture of flinging my arms up would reveal that this was not so...
And therefore the TV footage shows me crossing the line with arms outstretched instead of above my head...
Pru and I then had a fit of the giggles listening to my interview... The enthusiastic twenty six year old rather 'posh' sounding me!
Watching the last minute or so of me running through the streets, packed with a cheering crowd, she said, 'that must be an amazing feeling...'
It was, but watching it now I see how much I am 'moved on'... It is really like watching an entertaining video of a young woman running along enjoying her sport...
I don't get goosebumps, or any desire to experience that again...
Which is just as well!
The nineteen year old me doesn't even ask if we can have a go....
This morning I ran ten miles in shady lanes... I started all around the golf course and then headed off up a new road... It was quiet and cool.
At one point, group of four runners came towards, the occasional car drove by, then a man on a bike.... I passed some people discussing cutting a tree down... I make that up of course, as it was Spanish they spoke, but it was something to do with the hedgerow!
Into San Pedro, down to the prom and then the tough but spectacular mile back along the beach to breakfast....
After Pru and I concluded our 'consolidation morning', I had an appointment for a phone session with a client, so Pru went to have some lunch with Anadi.
Who is much better...
In the end he went to the doctor four days ago because his chest had a nasty rattle to it... The doctor diagnosed bronchitis...
I commented this morning that I had not reported his 'illness' in my blog, because i dont have a plan f what I will say, my writing just emerges from my fingers and Anadi's illness update hasn't appeared - until now...!
'I am happy with that' he said 'And I am nearly better now anyway...'
When I joined Pru and Anadi I discovered they had been having a long chat about tattoos...
And Pru and I found that we had both been having an urge towards having one!
The thing that has prevented me 'going ahead', is that each month I have a different idea of what I would like... It has ranged over many possibilities from an elephant to a mandala, and so I imagine that would continue...
Which is why I have chosen to let go of that plan!
Anadi has a tattoo on his arm, which means 'Master of oneself...'
He was telling Pru of when and where he wore earrings in his long hair in a pony tail down below his bottom 'hippy days...'
'And round sunglasses too?' Pru asked laughing...
