'We Danced Until The Night Became A Brand New Day'
We are in a beautiful village in Norfolk called Oxborough...
The sun has shone all day... We woke to a glorious September morn...
I love September.
I used to listen over and over to Neil Diamonds song (I date myself)
His lyrics resonate now for me - being with Anadi - who I love to talk to, always...
And who I have traveled halfway round the world with...!
'I only wanna talk to you
We've traveled halfway 'round the world
To find ourselves again
September morn
We danced until the night
Became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes
From some romantic play
September morning
Still can make me feel that way'
We travelled from Spain yesterday and didn't have 'lights out' until 2am Spanish time, and waking to this beautiful day made me feel that way!
Anadi's sister lives near here, and this afternoon we stood in the sun stroking Debbie's horses - Holly, a beautiful cob and the little Shetland pony Herbert - chatting to Debs and her partner Jay as if we had seen them only yesterday...
Love and connection are timeless and immediate...
We are never separated from one another in truth... Technology has made this truth a reality, but we are all connected always anyway.
We are all one... Old friends re-uniting; and new friends about to meet... Always there on the road ahead...
This morning I made a new friend... On the road. His name is Blaine...
There was a half marathon taking place here in the village... It was also the 'Masters half Marathon championships' and originally Tom, our brilliant Brighton women's team inspirer, had suggested us 'masters' travel here...
In the end this didn't happen, but it fitted well for me to come along and run anyway, and clock up some miles, as we were paying a visit to Anadi's family...
My body ran around, and I really enjoyed the run.
It was a beautiful course through open expansive Norfolk countryside; pheasants scattered, pigeons dived and squirrels hopped in the road... I enjoyed the company of other runners, the morning run out...
My body was not up for running fast, body is saying 'no' to fast running at the moment... But it meant I met Blaine, I caught him up as he was flagging, offered him a gel, which he didn't want... 'I don't believe in them'; but we fell into step together anyway, and ran along side by side for a few miles...
We chatted and learnt about one another, and then on he ran to a personal best time of 1.42; I ran in not far behind in 1.43 and was glad to be free to run in a race slower than I would ever have imagined I would be happy to run.
I said to Anadi later, as I reflected on the morning...
'I feel free...
If I can run slowly and be happy to just be there, running, enjoying the sunny September morning, making new friends on the run - and accepting what my body can do right now...
Then I am free...'
