We Have Only Now...
Corfu is experiencing a heat wave... Temperatures are in the high thirties and it feels a bit like being in St Lucia again... We seem to be permanently sweating!
I didn't run today... Instead I stretched on the beach while I waited for Anadi, who was running, to join me for a swim...
Starting the day running (usually) swimming, stretching... Fruit salad, Greek yoghurt and honey for breakfast suits me well...
In fact spending my life doing this suits me well...
Passing the time...
Life seems a strange journey sometimes... All of us passing this Illusion of time, when it doesn't exist and we have only now.
Angst often arises from the concept of time... Not enough of it, worry over what to do with it, regret over what we might have done with it...
'There is only clearing' Anadi said, as I mused over the legacy of lives we might have lived, which can make this one harder than it needs to be, and hold us in the grip of spending our time in useful and productive ways...
'Only clearing and then everything flows, there is no time and nothing is hard...'
So true, we have only 'now'... But it appears in the main this is only a concept that folk talk about rather than live...
Living it now is about trust... Of now.
We journeyed into Corfu town today... The idea was to go shopping as we have nothing really suitable for the ten days in London that we have coming up...
Anadi made very successful purchases... I made it clear I am not the type of wife that shops with their man...!
So he went off on his own, which turned out to be a very good thing as he found a nice shop assistant... She helped him choose really cool jeans and a fabulous purple / on the edge of pink shirt...
He looks really handsome in what he and she chose!
My shopping trip was less successful... I bought some running socks and a sports bra, but then ran out of energy....
As we were wandering through the narrow streets of Corfu old town, we were greeted by a group of people... 'Hello again...'
We had all met on the plane last Saturday... 'Sherri's gang' as we named them today... Sherri had been reading an extreme running magazine and this had connected us, so we had chatted as we all disembarked and clambered into the coach to the terminal...
And here they were again...
I regaled them with my 'non shopping' trip and one of 'the gang', when I told them of my socks and bra purchase, said... 'Well it's a start...'
It turned out to be a finish too, Anadi and I wandered on... And I requested stopping at the next cafe...
We have only now...
I am trusting shopping is happening and I will not be wandering around London in a pair of shorts and flip flops next week....
