Find Our Own Way...
Another glorious sunny day.
We ran early, greeting Poppy the guinea pig on our way out... I was glad for the long sleeved top Amy had sent me, but it was still mild and fresh; the park verdant lush, and a bit sloshy in parts of the grass...
The sun's light sparkled on the pond, filtered shafts through leaves...
The signets and moorhens were gathered at the waters edge in the direct sun... Maybe they hoped for bread.
Yesterday I had a treatment with Paul, the osteopath on the green... My pelvis was all in line. It had held its position since June, and so he just mobilised my hip and knee a bit and stuck an acupuncture needle in both
'All looking good he said...'
'I could be more supple' I replied... 'You're far more supple than most' he responded'... We then started to chat about the written word, about barefoot running in particular, given my return to orthotics... As well as other aspects of the body and it's workings, training methods, nutrition and diet...
We discussed how to distinguish between what is truly helpful, as opposed to that which is more about a person wishing to raise their own profile, more about marketing than sharing...
Discovering what is genuine sharing of information, encouraging us to make up our own minds, is a vital process for our growth, and asks that we take responsibility for our health and are prepared to explore..
Paul described those who say that 'Barefoot running is the only way', as the 'barefoot brigade'...
When it is a 'brigade' it generally seems to be about a certain way, being the only way... And so it follows, other ways are made wrong...
It is therefore important to read and research and ask questions and information gather, but with a view to finding out, experimenting...
This way we will find our own way...
After my treatment he had half an journey between appointments and suggested a coffee... I was enjoying the conversation and it was a long time since my last coffee at 7am!
We walked across the road to a lovely coffee shop called 'The Larder' where Anadi and I had some lunch the day before....
'I'm here with another man' I laughed as we appeared in the doorway, and Paul chose the same table Anadi and I had sat at...
'Ah and this is my table' I continued...
The young man in the coffee shop , Paul and I were all laughing.
'I won't say a word' he said...
Paul and I continued to chat for half an hour over coffee, and then he had to go to treat another patient... I texted Anadi...
'I am in the larder, do you fancy a coffee...?'
And in five minutes he had joined me at 'my table'!
