Freedom
Today has been a perfect birthday day!
We got out of bed and sat on the balcony drinking tea, while Anadi opened his presents... Lightening flashed across the sky, and the air rumbled, grey clouds gathered; but shafts of sunlight filtered through, making a perfect circle of pure light on the dark blue sea...
Spots of rain started to fall on our bodies...
'Back to bed for a birthday bonk?' I laughed..
We have clearly become 'fair weather' runners... The first hint of rain and we scurry back to bed!
By the time we had got up for the second time... The skies were bright blue, and the sun was triumphant again, high in the sky....
On my run to the harbour yesterday, I had spotted a coastal path....
It turned out to be a perfect 'Anadi goes adventuring route'... And a perfect path for me to work on clearing my vertigo fear...!
The rocky route wound it's way high up above the sea, spectacular beauty spread out before us, glistening blue blue sea; it seems more blue here than anywhere I have been...
Turquoise, light blue, dark and midnight... Aqua sea, clear... inviting, If you are someone who likes to leap from great heights!
Sometimes the path was very near the edge, and narrow and sandy, and I felt the familiar surge of fear through my base chakra...
It is immobilising when it takes a hold... The feeling wasn't too strong today... I knew I was not in danger, and so I breathed deeply and felt the fear in my body, allowing it to clear as I took another step and another...
Anadi has no fear of rocky paths, high up beside the sea... He is in his element - the perfect place for him to be on his birthday....
I couldn't have planned a better birthday, if I had planned it!
The path wound on, and we arrived at beach called Hondoq... This was another of Anadi's childhood haunts, but it is so changed, that he didn't recognise it...
It was only later on, when we went to see Tony for a drink that Anadi discovered where we had been... Tony has run the 'Gleneagles bar' for fifty years, and has known Anadi's Gran for all that time. He recounted to us how delighted she had been to hear of the birth of her first Grandchild... ! Tony remembers Anadi as a little thing... We asked him where we had run to that morning... 'That was Hondoq! - it was just rocks before...' Anadi exclaimed.
We had seen a lagoon just before the sandy beach at Hondoq, where people were sitting and looking at the sea... A peaceful image, only a handful of folk... The lagoon was around the corner, no one there, it looked like a huge private swimming pool....
We clambered over the rocks and stripped off our clothes, and dived into the magical deep pool... I looked up and gasped, we were at the mouth of the lagoon, and stretched out before me was eternity..
I recognised my eternal self, and in the gasp saw my belief in our separateness, at the same time as knowing this is not the case....
We were being gently towed out to sea... And so we swam in towards a cave... The water became more shallow and we stood in the entrance. The massive sandy rock formation, arched and swept its way in beautiful curves and crags above us...
'I have to swim into it' Anadi said... 'I don't', I laughed.... He swam in, and I swam out, into the middle of the blue pool... I was alone....
Nothing, no one, the water, embracing my naked body, and the sun beat down...
Freedom...
