Anything Is Possible
The sound of my cappuccino - double shot! - being made is very welcome; I am sitting in the window of the 'Deli on the Green'. It is the most plentiful and delightful environment to be in; all the food around me looks inviting and wholesome and very delicious.
An apricot croissant is being warmed to compliment my coffee and I am in mid-morning heaven...
The joy of running again is so wonderful, that I simply want to run and run and run; fortunately I know that this 'want' is not necessarily wise!
As my friend Nick Webborn - well renowned sports doctor and owner of Sportswise reminds us - the value of rest is very much overlooked!
The pauses in activity are where the benefits occurs, it is in the resting state that the body recovers, adjusts and adapts to the workload, and then builds and improves.
It is the pauses in music that make the music beautiful, the gaps between words that make sentences and our communication comprehensible.
It is the gaps between the thoughts where stillness is and where no thing is, and therefore everything in the whole universe is...
So I decided not to run today…
I stretched on the floor and chatted to Anadi before he left for business meetings in three different places all over London…
And instead I planned a conditioning session using kettle bells to practice some of the key exercises that Matt taught me; my conditioning sessions in the past few weeks have been using my body weight only, but now I have my gym!
It is like my own private gym, I couldn't have chosen a better environment for me...
I walked the route that is now familiar, a wintry morning and my hands got cold! I became aware I own no gloves now... I don't own much at all and so if it gets cold I will buy some gloves for the two weeks left that we are in the UK...
And then 'give them in to someone' who would like them - or to a charity shop...
To keep to our 20 kilos if we buy a new clothe we let go of an old one..!.
I like the lightness that our nomadic life brings.
I like walking though a street I didn't know five days ago and which now is familiar, and I like it that this street has my own gym in it... :) .
I like leaving places without a trace, except for our energetic imprint, which on-going reminds me to be aware of the importance of continually clearing any 'stuff' of past pain that arises, and of being mindful that my every thought and word remains and that I am wholly responsible for the world I am creating...
I let myself into the gym; it was silent and empty and so I thought I could play my own music...
I chose 'The Essence by Deva Premal and Miten...
As I was half way through my circuit the door opened and Mark, a personal trainer who uses this gym for some of his sessions came in with a client.
I went to turn off my music...
'No leave it…' He said 'We won't be here long'
'I'm sure it's lovely…'
'it's chant y stuff...' I said...!
And so his client ran on the treadmill to the background music of Shima Shima ... And my gym stayed very much my gym!
He introduced himself as he left, and I then watched him training his client outside... It looked fun, he is a spinter himself and he has a vibrant open energy.
Seeing a notice for his circuit class on a Monday, I felt tempted... although i am leaving too soon in truth to join in!
After forty minutes I had reached a natural conclusion to my session...If Matt is reading this, he will likely laugh, as I booked sessions with him, that were an hour long... And if I made it to forty minutes we felt we were doing well! (nb taking a selfie photo of a KB squat is not easy in case my form isn't as you taught me Matt...:) !!
35- 40 minutes seemed to suit me...! And support my running too...one of Matts many qualities as a PT is flexibility and adapting sessions to the clients needs...
At the end of my session I lay on an exercise mat for five minutes in the corpse position with the chanting music beside me... And a thought floated through that no one in the whole world knew I was there... (except for PT Mark and his client!!:)
And later I am going to see Danny again for another deep tissue massage.
I am very much looking forward to the treatment...
Later...
I am back from my treatment with Danny. It was brilliant.
I also very much enjoyed chatting with him and the hour passed all too fast.
I am going back again next week...
My body is loving regular treatments again and it has given me a feeling of lightness, openness, invincibility...
And that anything is possible...
