Flying Higher And Higher...
I ran on the track today...
A beautiful blue track... I had planned to run 6 x 1000 metres with a jog recovery over 200 metres. This was a session that I did regularly in the eighties...
Back then I used to run the kilometres with ease, and in relaxed fashion, in around 3 minutes 20 seconds... Given my form indicates that I am almost exactly a minute a kilometre slower now, this seemed a good place to start...!
Every Wednesday I plan to wear the Go Pro on my head - and when I race too - and display it on Anadi's imedialibrarysports channel...
Not being a particularly 'data' person, it suits my soul to see afterwards what has been going on, amd run the feel when I am in action...
I set off...
Gunter the osteopath who I visited yesterday, suggested that I alternate each interval with running the opposite way around the track...
Which I did...
I had no biomechanical pain at all...
I did however find running the intervals demanding. After the first one, I said to Anadi 'I'm not sure I'm doing six of these'!
And on the fourth one I could feel the lactic in my legs, and made an 'executive decision' to make it my last one...
I intend for this journey to be a progressive one, to completely accept where my fitness is, and stretch from there...
And to look after myself...
Not push my body or mind to breaking point...
Not smash them to bits...
Training is all about building up not breaking down... Nudging towards excellence, by listening and taking notice in every moment...
It is about nurturing emotional energy, so that when the time to perform arrives, it flows out of a full chalice, not one that has drained away on the training road...
I have witnessed this pattern in many areas of people's lives... In working towards exams, and projects and creations. Instead of expanding the energy and clearing the blocks within, promoting the capacity to keep going and keep progressing... Often, instead of this, there is burn out..
.
Even if the goal is achieved, it is very likely it could have been attained without so much tension; but once the pattern is set up, then the chimera of success and 'no gain without pain' is imprinted, and it can be a hard noose to untie from...
The film of my session is, as you would imagine, quite repetitive!
I suggested to Anadi that he keep my 'heavy breathing' in! It sounds quite Meditative, to me anyway!
And does demonstrate that within flow and relaxation, effort and focus is still required....
When we returned to our apartment we were sitting looking over the terrace and two collar doves landed on the wall and then flew in front of us to sit on the opposite side...
This is what the Spirit totem said about their visit...
'They may be reminding you that in order to soar, you must know when to move your wings and when to allow the wind to take you to new heights. If you were to sit on a branch looking to the sky and hoping the wind will simply pick you up, you would never move. You must surrender and allow the wind support your wings. Get moving… and experience the exhilaration of flying higher and higher...'
