We Are The Stillness
Another lovely run in the park... It was milder than yesterday, damp and windy, but very tranquil too in its stillness and emptiness, an occasional cyclist or runner, the sound of the cars a way off...
Green grey naked trees creaking in the wind... The path muddy in places, the puddles to jump or skirt around, the bridges slippy wet...
Anadi came with me today and we ran and talked; five miles done in a flash of time...
I have been with clients all day and Anadi's brother and family dropped by at lunch time...
And now it is dark and another day is done.
I am in a different country, different surroundings, Christmas music is playing and I am not quite used to driving on the left side and saying 'Thank you' instead of 'Gracias'...
But amongst the change and the speed of movement and the full days, I am once again reminded of the still place... There is a still point in our breath, which is the place in which we can find the stillness...
It is at the turning point in the breath that we can find this place...
As we breathe in, just before we breathe out, and then at the bottom of the breath before we breathe in...
Finding this still point can help us to stay in touch with the silence within us...
The place that is the witnesser to all that is going on in our lives, all that we engage in, all we do and think and feel..
If we are able to stay connected to the part that witnesses everything, and if we can always access the still point and notice it as we breathe in and breathe out...
Then we will start to truly know that we are the stillness....
Later...
We went to the gym!
It is a fabulous centre, and it was a good way to end our busy day...
On the way out we had a chat with the manager, and after an interesting exchange I said...
'This is the bit I miss about being abroad... The chatting'!
