Conversations On The Run...
Anadi and I arrived yesterday evening to a windy, mild evening in Eastbourne...
We walked up the steps to warmth and laughter; a big group of people around a table...
Frank who owns Ravilious guest house, greeted us, a cry of 'delighted welcome' came from the table, and there was Armando...
We hugged one another, friends always, the time slipped away from when we last met...
And it was but a moment instead of months.
'If you can give a clue that helps people get this answer that no-one can get, you will join the over 45's club', a guest from the table said, handing me a little card from the game they were playing.
I looked at the name of the person they had to guess, and the five clues I wasn't allowed to give and said....
'Russia'
A few names were called out, and then 'Mikhail Gorbachev'.
'Yes'... I laughed, and handed him back the card...
'You're in the over 45's club now' he called 'you're too young for that.'
Anadi and I continued on our way with our rucksacks into the lovely room where we are staying in for a few days...
'He doesn't know how old I am!'
It was like stepping into another reality...
A bright light, happy, golden and red, green Christmas tree reality out of the dark damp night...
We made tea and opened some presents, I wrote my blog and then we went out into the windy wildness to find something to eat...
We were very hungry...
'I feel a bit like Joseph with Mary' Anadi said, as we had looked through the doors of yet another hotel that said 'residents only until Dec 27th'...
We drove along the seafront...
''All part of the adventure...' We agreed, when suddenly there were lights and people eating in a restaurant...
We were greeted warmly, and enjoyed a delicious Indian meal, sitting in the window, overlooking the sea, celebrating two years since Anadi proposed to me over dinner in Costa Rica!
Afterwards we walked down to the seashore and delighted in the crashing waves, the night sky, the end of a perfect Christmas Day....
This morning we were up and racing (so as not to be late for the 8am ETD) across Gildredge park to meet Rob and Jim for a run... Rupert and Justin were there too, and we all headed up for a lap on the beautiful South Downs...
I filmed our run with the Go Pro and we met fellow runner Bean coming down the hill we were about to run up...
She had just met my friend Tracy on the top, and so I was hopeful of a chance encounter with her...
But it was not to be today...
At the end of the run, we all agreed that apart from the exploration out in nature, enjoying and experiencing the elements, and the physical benefits to being 'a runner; one of the key joys of running is the 'run Philosophique'...
The conversations and connection on the run.
