A Perfect Day
It is two minutes to one in the morning of December 30th...
We are in our hotel room of the Premier Inn at Gatwick having come from my great friend Haze's wedding party and sixtieth birthday celebrations...
We had a wonderful time.
I met Haze twenty two years ago when I married her brother, and today it was delightful to be surrounded by her children and my step children - who are now all grown up and having children of their own - and honour the special times we spent together all those years ago...
I had come straight from meeting Zoe at the Grand, which was also a very special occasion!
She brought me clothes to try on for my book launch this coming Sunday, and we ate a delicious lunch of goat cheese and beetroot salad... We made plans for talks and workshops and fun ahead with Girlfriend for a year...
She brought me a gift of a little Om sign, which is the symbol on my website; it is well known as a sacred sound and spiritual icon...
If we keep the sound of Om in our heart, we will always stay at the centre of all that is pure and perfect, it is said to be the matrix of all sounds...
If we could hear the whole universe it would be this sound...
I woke early this morning at 6.30... After all my exercises had been done - in the bathroom, I crept out into the darkness to meet my friend Matt Shore...
I have been training under Matt's distant guidance across the globe... The 'Shore method' has been having great effect on strengthening my gluts and opening my hips in a gentle fashion, and I can feel the benefit in my running even after one month...
We made our way down to the seafront and ran and talked for eight miles long, while the light crept in and dawn broke...
I was aware of watery blues, greys and stark black rocks... And a glimmer of sun in the sky as we caught up with one another, and shared and ran, like it had only been yesterday...
Afterwards we made our way to Urban Ground cafe, drank divine coffee, ate delicious almond croissants...
A perfect start to a perfect day..
