Truly Free...
I first met Roberto around 1989, we think it was then anyway, maybe a year or two later...
He remembers going through half way in the (very hill) Heathfield 10k with me in under 18 minutes...
I remember that too. I loved running with Roberto in races, we were often near one another... And always pleased to catch up in various venues around Sussex as the years unfolded...
And now we meet in Malta... He was there with Debbie his partner and catching up at breakfast and bumping into one another running along the prom was such a delight...
And somehow entirely natural, of course I would see Roberto, our orbits have always coincided with another as the years have gone by...
Even with only five days 'living' in Malta I had a morning rhythm, up to run of course ...
Although not the day after the half marathon, instead I had a fabulous all over body treatment - top to toe - a massage that included a head massage and reflexology... 'You are the most ticklish person ever' Peijing my masseuse commented laughing with me...
Anyway, back to the 'Malta routine'... After running Anadi and I went to breakfast where I ate an orange and a pear, and my super foods in some milk, while he enjoyed a 'full English' or a 'full Mediterranean' which consisted of sun dried tomatoes and a Greek type salad; butter bean salad and bacon and a couple of slices of Maltese bread and butter...!
We then wandered into the street to my favourite cafe for a lovely cup of coffee - and a croissant for me!
I am very happy in a coffee shop... I feel creative, full of possibility, whilst doing nothing...
There is nothing of course, and in each coffee shop I sit in feeling this sense of creativity, I am aware of the past not existing... All gone, erased, and that the creativity is in this very moment.
There is no past.... Living as Anadi and I do is demonstrating this more and more...
We have only here, now.
As we drove to Malta airport I commented to Anadi that it was less than three weeks since we had arrived, but everything felt different - so much experience - it could have been that three months had passed...
And now every moment of it was gone....
We met up with Malcolm and John of Running Crazy at the airport... We were travelling to Cyprus together...
Similar souls all of us.
Malcolm travels the world giving runners wonderful race and 'fun weekends away' experiences, in so many different and exciting places...
I have travelled with Running Crazy to Budapest, Barcelona, Prague, Torremolinos and Malta to name but a few... And I have always had a great time..
John is 71 and runs very fast... He is still running 90 minutes for a half Marathon.
He also travels the globe running a race every weekend in somewhere different, often with Malcolm as he helps him with the Running Crazy weekends....he is only ever in one place for a few days at a time, and thinks nothing of long haul flights with time zone change too...Arriving, racing and then off again within a couple of days to the next destination...
We clambered into the Running Crazy mini bus, which Malcolm has hired for the weekend, and had a very enjoyable journey across Cyprus from Larnaca to Paphos... On arriving, there was a delicious dinner waiting for us at our hotel which we all enjoyed together...
This morning I jogged along the seafront, I felt inspired by a swimmer, a plan for later...
The wind blew, bright skies, 'kalimera' a man walking the opposite way greeted me smiling...
I came home to Anadi and as we were chatting and getting ready for the day, I commented on how wonderful, but also how exhausting in some ways, the last three years has been...
'Yes' he agreed 'we've been working so much out... We found each other, and that has escalated everything for us...'
Two free spirits collide...
But as we made our way to breakfast, we agreed that we have set in place a foundation from which we can engage in so much more exploration of how to be truly free...
