Interval Training
I have a new office in Happy House... A restaurant on the beach with lots of space and very good wifi... As long as I pay my way with drinks and food I feel at ease to write and Skype and generally set up shop...
It is a good place for me to come and work in between running around the island of Mallorca...
Yesterday we did two sessions...
In the morning Katie and I clambered into the running crazy mini bus and Malcolm drove us both to the stadium.
I love being in the vicinity of a track, it was quite quiet, but there were runners running and hurdlers hurdling and I felt like I had come home… I am inspired watching young girls running round and round the track, three of them, running an 800 meter repetitions; I watch their fluid motion, their lithe bodies and I feel that I am back with my tribe…
Albeit an elder now in the tribe… I watch their running action and remember the feelings, it inspires me to run free too, to keep working on the imbalance in my left side, to run as I did in the very beginning…
Malcolm Katie and I warmed up jogging around the 1000m loop beside the track, it curls around and has a couple of slight inclines, and the surface is like an old cinder track, a bit more loose than that, but that sort of feel, like the cycle path I used to train on between bath and Bristol; we run another loop and then Malcolm organised us to run at 30 second intervals, Katie first, then me, and then Malcolm…
I have absolutely no idea what to expect from myself… when I was in club la SantaI ran 4 x 1000 in around 4.20… have I improved at all in the past 5 months?
I discovered that I have....
The session has shown me that I have more in me than has been coming out as yet... It was revealed to me as I ran 4.02 3.59 3.59, and I am inspired...
I inspired myself ha ha!
And I really enjoyed training with Malcolm and Katie... We had a lovely morning...
Only a few hours later, we were back in the mini bus again, this time joined by Anadi, for our evening easy run... It couldn't really be anything else, as it didn't seem a flash since we were tearing around the kilometre loop...
And so we jogged along the seafront to the beautiful cathedral in Palma... Majestic...
And back again to a juice bar where we drank super detox green juice
which matched Malcolm's running crazy colours....
And home we drove...
