She Went To The Gym To Journey Within!
I love love love being in a gym....
I feel at home there, the gym my home!
I like wandering into the environment, the familiar sounds of clanging weights, heavy breathing, occasional grunts and groans... The whir of the treadmill, the musty smell.
I love getting out a mat, and starting to stretch and open and ready my body for whatever is about to unfold...
I like going nowhere, an inner journey, moving this body this way and that... Going nowhere but within.
There isn't anywhere else to go...
My journey on this planet has been mainly along a running track it seems, one that never ends...!
Being in a gym and running in circles on tartan, along a beach, on Tarmac, grass and through woodland trees became my way of life many years ago.
Lifting weight, lifting my own body, stretching for excellence, stretching my limbs, opens me up mentally and physically...
Practising the art of being in the movement, so that the running, the exercises happen by themselves....
Discovering the feeling of being still... Of being fully aware here and now...
This practise is a never ending one; my connection to my soul...
A never ending journey...
One that for now is taking place within the confines of this body... Which shows me where I am stuck through its aches and pains, it's restrictions...
I welcome them all (except when I don't!) as signposts on my journey inward...
I spent a morning in the spa the other day, soaking in the bubbling jacuzzi, sliding into the clean cold plunge pool, feeling the freezing delight... Into the steam bath, back out into the icy cold water... Such joy!
I met my new friend in the steam bath....
She has been travelling for five months long... One day she walked into her workplace...'I quit' she said... To their surprise... She left her home, gave away her possessions, and bought a boat as a home instead...
Then my new friend set off on a journey... To India she flew, next to Thailand and onto Cambodia and now she is here for awhile before returning to the UK to take up her work again, in a different way than before....
She has journeyed far in miles, but she spoke of the journey inward being the true road that she has travelled...
A brief encounter in the steam bath, with my new friend who I may never meet again...
