"I Love Paris In The Winter..."
It was still dark when I woke yesterday morning... I dressed and ran down the stairs, slipping out of the front door of the hotel which slid open to reveal L'eglise St Germain across the road in front of me... I ran down Rue Bonaparte, and started to make my way over one of the bridges across the river Seine... Dawn was beginning to creep in, creating an orange glow around the buildings. I stopped on the bridge to watch in wonder the glowing light, the magical morning vista burning like embers out of the dark; another day rising.
But, it was feeezing crisp cold, so I ran on, crossed the road and turned left into the Tuileries gardens where a few others were already there, circling the sandy loop... Running alongside the line of trees... A bluey purple ferris wheel at the bottom and beyond that the Champs Elysees.
Paris in the winter.
I had travelled there to be with Pru, she wanted to do some intensive work in a city she loves, a place she feels at home in...
So between our work we walked the streets, eating in lovely restaurants, shopping! I laughed... 'Pru, I am a nomad who carries all she owns on her back...' But I enjoyed the Christmassy atmosphere of the big department stores, the beautiful products, because even though I have never really and truly been a shopping person, I can appreciate the amazing art of the products.
In one of the stores, the dome in the building was spectacular, crowds of people mingled below the stunning artcitectual genius, all sparkly and blue and gold, arching above us in magnificent form....
It is a little like going to a show, or an art gallery for me to visit shops and the building was an added an extra 'je ne sáis quoi'...
On one evening we went on a treat, an actual show; a Cabaret... Pru kept it a surpise and as we got out of the taxi she said "turn around" and there in front of me was the entrance to 'The Moulin Rouge'!
Montmartre is my favourite area in Paris and the Moulin Ruge was a wonderful, colourful spectacle of talent and bright expansive energy.
I have to confess to being utterly transfixed by the beautiful bodies of the women dancers... I couldn't take my eyes of their bare bosoms and beautiful bottoms! And amazing legs with seams all the way up the back of their tights...
Pru and I drank a glass of champagne together and also drank in the atmosphere of joy and vibrant energy.
The men were more clothed, so it was harder to see their forms, but one of the acts was an acrobatic gymnast whose strength and flexibility and abilties were extra impressive... And he had a beautiful bod too!
And now I am writing this on the plane back to Malta where Anadi is going to pick me up to take me back to lovely Gozo....
Pru dropped me off at my 'Gatwick office' yesterday lunchtime and I worked all afternoon with my clients...
My friend Athena Jane waited until I finished working at 9.30pm and I then we had supper together and a 'sleep over'.
At 1am this morning with a 5am alarm call we decided we better stop talking....
'Or we could just chat all night ' Jane laughed!
