Do The Right Things Right Consistently...!
I am sitting in the bar area of our new home, overlooking the sea, the sun is setting behind a cloudy sky...
Anadi is chatting to Pete, who we met properly at breakfast; he was the man standing on the rock having a cigarette last night when I went for my aborted swim...
And now he is our friend; he works for a company called John Henry who are specialist suppliers to the entertainment industry; they provide all the stage set-ups for world famous bands. He told us joyfully that The Rolling Stones were using one of their rehearsal studios recently.... As one of Anadi’s lives has been as a musician and sound engineer, that spanned twenty years they have a lot in common...!
Gino from Germany has joined us now, I chatted with him for awhile until Pete left and then said that I really must write this as it is getting late in the day...! So Anadi is now chatting with him... I sat next to him on the same 'packed in like sardines' mini bus yesterday; he and his brother Ileus are having a holiday in Thailand...
Gino has been to Thailand before and Ileus, having been inspired by Gino’s photos from his last trip wanted to see the country... And so here they are....
Partying quite a bit it would seem...!
Gino is a business consultant and he is talking to Anadi now about effectiveness and efficiency; he says that to sum up a big concept in two sentences is to say that effectiveness is doing things right; and then efficiency is doing the right things right consistently...
It is dark now, our first day here is nearly done... I cannot remember being anywhere else...
Looking back at each place we have stayed it is like looking at a drop of energy.
I am glad that I am writing each day down, because each space of time somewhere has a colour and a vibration to it, but it all blends into a drop... that I could paint; the colour, the size, the translucency or density of it would be easy to do; but actually to remember detail - and even more challenging... in a linear way, would be hard if I wasn't documenting it...!
There are hilights of course, like Flo and Yiings marriage; every detail easy to recall...
The people we have met, the conversations, the connections are all within me, but it is also like a dream and things seem so long ago, events that may only be a week ago... This time last week, we had emerged from the night of sickness; but that could have been something that happened years ago...
Being in different places and in different time zones throws off all the constraints of routine and the safety of it too...
Today has been a lovely day... I woke before Anadi and sat on our little terrace writing and enjoying the stillness of the cloudy day that had woken up sleepily around us; I then went for a swim in 'my pool' before Anadi and I went for breakfast; the little daughter of Nuch who is the owner here, danced around us, and her grandfather served us orange juice coffee omelette and toast...
We then headed off for a run to explore, which turned into more of a long walk; the day was humid and the road out of here is like a steep roller coaster; it felt like being on a magical journey to discover something, but we had no idea what we were discovering... a treasure hunt, an adventure.
We reached the top of one hill and there on our right was a huge deserted looking Buddist Temple; we clambered over the fence and walked up the steps and explored the outside of the huge building.
The energy was powerful, particularly when standing beside the statues. I stayed at the top looking out over the sea and I could see Koh Samui across the water; Anadi went to explore some more... He discovered evidence of it being turned into a hotel, so it will be full of life again. Instead of monks living within it, people from different cultures and countries will be walking its corridors...
We found our way to a beach which had a bar called ‘The Laid Back Bar’; it was full of little black cats that sat and lay about the tables and the floor; the little houses situated around it are painted in bright colours, one with an Om sign on the side…
The rain came down again and we sat watching it, sheltering and drinking an iced tea…
And then we made our way back here to our new home…
